ONE TO SLEEP ON…
Written by Angela Grant
Black people are still asleep!
This piece is not to humiliate my own race, rather to wake them up to the fact that we shout “Black Lives Matter!”, but do they actually matter to us? When we very rarely lift a finger to help each other when alive, but go on an all out protest when killed by a cop.
The few of us who become successful don’t think about a legacy or pulling up other Black people. Instead we are rather selfish, thinking in terms of, “I did it on my own so they should be able to do it on their own.” This is the same kind of thinking that sellout OJ Simpson had and we know where he ended up.
When I need help on a project I sooner get help from my White colleagues than I would from my Black. When we become famous we become unreachable, and many forget their past and culture. They are very arrogant and think they are better than poor Black folks.
Far too many Black people are suffering in isolation. I know that, because I am! To put yourself on the line and stand up for Black rights is to put your career and future on the line. Because in the end, Black rights will not stand up for you.
